Good food when you can get it. The waitress they have in the morning can't multitask to save her life and for some reason doesn't carry a pad and paper so she insists on using people's food vouchers instead which means you need to try to get them back. That can be a tricky endevour since she's more often missing in action.
I ate steaks from Sawmill many time before, this is the only place served me with their Sawmill steak sauce. It was so good. Why didn't other places served me the same. What the heck? But the best is that it's located right at the hotel. You can enjoy beers and never worry driving back to the hotel after work.
Great steak and excellent service in comparison to the rest of Cold Lake. However, if you are foreign Military and you are on an exercise, you WILL be charged a surcharge for the sheer fact that you are Military, theres an exercise going on and you look Military. Coming from the waitress and then from the manager, thats a policy that is downright insulting, from an economy which has a level of reliance on foreign military members to help support local businesses.Canada isnt a tipping country, but if your military and like being forced to pay 15% to management based of your occupation, visit the Sawmill Steakhouse.
I just had the steak and lobster, Cuban lobster for $29 that and the service is exceptional. Dining at multiple restaurants across the country it be hard to compare. If you find yourself in Cold Lake Alberta definitely try this place.
Update: I went here for my birthday March 2018 and it was much improved over my first experience. We had a delightful meal. The steaks were done perfectly and everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was friendly and prompt. For brunch we also visited when the local family restaurant was overcrowded and understaffed and found the service here to be excellent as well as the food. The prices were very comparable. Overall I would be happy to do brunch here regularly.
